Holiday home of Paola Navone in Greece

Right... we're done with the Orange Mania here in the Netherlands and getting back to normal.... Lets talk about summer, beautiful Islands, blue seas and holiday homes in white and grey!

The last issue of Dutch Elle living magazine showed the summer house of Italian designer and architect Paola Navone on the Greek Island Serifos. The house has a wonderful view and it has a raw and basic atmosphere. White painted ceilings and little corners everywhere.. A house without any clutter where one can really forget the hectic city live

I must admit that my mother in law at the Italian Island of Sardenia had a house like this in a little village near the sea... I sometimes hated the white painted walls in the cortile (the court) where the plaster easily felled of and the itchy mediterranean blue painted chairs. But seeing this house it makes me wanting to go back in time....

All carpets are painted on the floors

Nu de oranje gekte weer voorbij is kunnen we weer terug gaan naar een van mijn favoriete onderwerpen... Zomer, mooie eilanden, een blauwe zee en vakantie huizen in wit en grijs.

In het laatste nummer van Elle Wonen stond een reportage over het huis van de Italiaanse designer en architechte Paola Navone op het Griekse eiland Serifos. Met een geweldig uitzicht op de Egeïsche zee en de rauwe basic sfeer een huis om bij weg te dromen en alles even te vergeten.

Ik moet toegeven dat mijn schoonmoeder op het Italiaanse eiland Sardinia een soortgelijk huis had in een dorpje bij de zee. Soms haatte ik de witte muren in de cortile (binnenplaats) waar de plaster vaak van af viel en de gammele mediterranee blauw geschilderde stoeltjes met die kriebelige zitting. Maar als ik dit dan zie... zou ik soms wel weer even terug in de tijd willen.
