Beside the bottle of wine for diner, we Dutch like to give some flowers or plants when we go and visit family or friends. In spring there are lots of plants for the garden or balcony to choose from, but most come in boring little plastic pots and aren't really exciting to give, so why not pimp them a bit. These I wrapped in some white and grey linnen. When buying them I remembered to have seen a post at Modern Country, where Aina used potato bags and I thought it was a great idea to use some fabric instead of paper or cardboard I normally use.
I am wondering if and what you bring along when visiting friends or family.....
Fifi Flowers...
I think most of you might have come across the blog or Etsy store of the talented Fifi. In her own special way she makes little paintings of pictures. Once she surprised me with a painting she made of one of the pictures I posted (see here) A picture of my cat lying in the sun. Some weeks ago we got in touch and she told me she wanted to donate me the painting. Yesterday it arrived. Thank you so much Fifi, I will give it a special place! If you would like to have a painting from your pet or home then visit Fifi Flowers website.

Fifi
BTW... I linked this post on my blog!!!
Oh Desiree,
You can come to our house for dinner anytime, if you bring flowers like this. They look so beautiful. I usually take flowers of some sort or, if someone has mentioned something specific that they like, I might take that.
Your photographs are just gorgeous.
I too have a painting from Fifi. Mine is of a French chair in black and white and, I won one of her giveaway's, where I had to show her my favourite image of Paris, and she painted it ( I asked her to do it in black and white ) and she made it into note cards. I think that you would like both, as they are both black and white !!
I love your painting of your cat. It's lovely to have something painted that is pertinent to you, isn't it ?
Have a lovely week, Desiree. XXXX
Those sweet little blue pansies look perfect dressed in linen and twine...a delightful gift!

I love your creative ideas! I would be flattered to receive the pansies all dressed up in linen.

this is a truly lovely idea which I'd love to copy.. for a change!
Normally I bring cakes when I'm invited cause I do not want to risk the plants life- my friends have the black thumb unfortunately.
Lovely, beautiful photos

Hoi Dees ,
Wondeful idea!!! Like it!! In Italy we usually bring sweets called 'pasticcini' or wine, but in Napoli the use is to bring 'caffé e zucchero'...But I like to bring plants and flowers as well sometimes, if I know that the person is fond of them.
a kiss for you, mon amie!
What a gorgious idea. Wouldn't you like to come over for dinner? You are very welcome to bring Fifi along =) Her picture is so beautiful.
Enjoy,
FrauSchmitt

Hi Dess,
Geniet ervan!
Karin

Oh, I love this idea - it's such an easy way to make the gift extra special. I love Fifi's work too. :)
Cakes! I always bring an home made cake. Sometimes I add a small gift, or a plant, or something I made with my hands.
Erg leuk.
groetjes Marja.
Hey Desiree, I didn't see your article till now. They are so cute the flowers with potatoe sacks:-)
I agree with you, when I go visiting f.ex for Saturday night with dinner, etc., I like to bring wine and flowers - or a small gift.
Now I have to check out the paintings:-) Wish you a wonderful evening! Hugs from Laila
Your flower pots are gorgeous!
That's a great idea! I usually bring little plants or flowers to my friends when they invite me and I alway try to wrap them in a lovely way! You inspired me!
Fifi made a painting of one of my photos and now the picture is in a special place in my bedroom!
Have a nice day!

Hi
Just come across your lovely blog, I love the way you wrapped the plants and your beautiful photos, I will be visiting regularly now!!
Jill
As you do, we, french people, bring flowers very often to our friends or sometimes wine, or sweets ! I love your blog, thanks for so lovely pictures. My husband is deutsh from his grandfather, so his favourite flower is... tulip of course !!! ;-)
What a really beautiful gift I like the colour of the flowers against the zinc wire. Hope you are well xx
Hugs Lynn xx
Your packaging is raw and effective. There is no way I'd be removing the plants from their wrapping! In Australia, we generally take a bunch a flowers or a bottle of wine. Not anymore, I'm doing this! Thank you :)
Wow! I really like your blog ... the photos are beautiful. I enrolled immediately among your supporters! A big kiss and see you soon! :)
